Contracts awarded for science center

GULFPORT, Miss. - Contracts were awarded Thursday to two firms to oversee construction of the Infinity Science Center, south of Stennis Space Center, Miss. Roy Anderson Corp. of Gulfport submitted the low bid of $15.6 million to construct the building and Eley Guild Hardy of Biloxi was named executive architect. Work will begin May 3 and the building will be complete in 16 months. John Wilson, the education program development director at Infinity, said it could be August 2011 before money is raised to pay for the exhibits and open the science center.
