Second Green Run planned

STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss. - NASA has decided to schedule a second Green Run test of the Space Launch System core stage the week of Feb. 21 on the B-2 test stand at its test center in South Mississippi. The decision to re-run the static fire test was made after the first test of the core and its four RS-25 engines on Jan. 16 and was cut short after just over a minute. A hydraulic system for one of the engines reached a pre-set limit and the test, slated for eight minutes, ended early. NASA could have opted to settle for just the one test, but decided on a second one. The core stage being tested will be used on the Artemis I lunar mission. The date for the test will be set following the test readiness review. (Source: NASA/SSC, 02/01/21) Previous
