
CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION, Fla. - A Boeing-built unmanned orbital vehicle called X-37B was successfully launched Thursday aboard an Atlas V rocket into low-earth orbit. The Orbital Test Vehicle's mission is classified. The X-37B is designed to return from space and land on its own. The vehicle will be used to demonstrate a reliable, reusable unmanned space test platform for the Air Force. The Atlas V is powered by the RD AMROSS RD-180 booster engine and a Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne RL10 upper-stage engine. (Sources:
