2nd AF gets new commander
KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. - Maj. Gen. Timothy Leahy took command of the 2nd Air Force during a change of command ceremony Aug. 23 at Keesler. The 2nd Air Force provides training for more than 265 Air Force specialties for 150,000 Defense Department and international student graduates per year. Leahy will be responsible for the development, oversight and direction of all operational aspects of basic military training, initial skills training, and advanced technical training of all enlisted members and support officers. Leahy comes to the Mississippi Gulf Coast from duty as commander of the LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education and vice commander of Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.
