VT-6 getting new leader
NAVAL AIR STATION WHITING FIELD, Fla. – Navy Cmdr. Kevin Murphy will take over command of Training Squadron SIX (VT-6) from Marine Lt. Col. Richard “DB” Roberts during a July 20 change of command ceremony. Murphy, designed a naval aviator in 2003, has been serving as executive officer of VT-6 since April 2016. Marine Lt. Col John James will become VT-6’s new executive officer. Roberts, designated a naval aviator in 1999, assumed command of VT-6 in April 2016. During his tour, the squadron flew more than 49, 800 flight hours in the completion of more than 31,700 syllabus events. VT-6 produced 642 Navy and Marine Corps primary aviators.
