County wants better ST deal
PENSACOLA, Fla. -- City and county officials will go back to the negotiating table to decide how to divide $8 million in local incentives needed to finalize a deal on an aircraft maintenance facility for Pensacola International Airport. Both parties last week agreed to a framework where the county would contribute $4.8 million and loan the city another $3.2 million to be repaid by 2020. Now, commissioners are asking whether the city could contribute more. The city has a nonbinding memorandum of understanding with ST Aerospace, which already has a major operation in Mobile, Ala., to establish a facility at the airport on 18.66 acres of city-owned land.
