Teledyne Technologies profit per share hit a record in the third quarter, helped by cost cutting and a tax windfall. Total profit rose to $35.1 million, up 14 percent from $30.9 million in the same quarter of 2008. The results were boosted by $8.2 million in research and development tax credits. Teledyne is the parent company of Teledyne Continental Motors, a 420-worker unit that makes propeller plane engines at Mobile's Brookley Field Industrial Complex.
