AF welcomes T-1A

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Air Force officials with a new flight training group at Naval Air Station Pensacola marked the arrival of their first jet at the base Wednesday. The T-1A Jayhawk, given the ceremonial name “The Spirit of Pensacola,” is the first jet assigned to the Air Force 479th Flight Training Group, which is officially activating at NAS Pensacola Friday. Last year construction began on the $45 million training facility for navigators and combat systems officers at the base. The group will train about 360 students each year.
