Airport eyeing name change

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – Northwest Florida Regional Airport is considering changing its name to Destin-Fort Walton Beach International Airport. The Department of Airports plans to ask Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners to consider the name change during a January meeting. The new name was suggested by Market Dynamics Research Group of New Orleans, on grounds the current name is too generic. The airport is located at Eglin Air Force Base.
