EADS project gets local funding

MOBILE, Ala. - Local governments will spend $468,000 on a firefighting system to help EADS CASA with an expansion of its Mobile facility. The Mobile City Council voted Tuesday to contribute $234,000 to the fire suppression system, and the county commission will pay the other half. EADS CASA, a Spanish subsidiary of European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co., has an aircraft maintenance and training center at the Mobile airport. It services planes flown by the U.S. Coast Guard.
